Protecting your kids with a PLAN ensures that your kids are always taken care of by whom you want, in the way you want, no matter what.
If you are ready for the total assurance and peace of mind knowing you’ve done everything you can to protect your children from ever being removed from your home and placed in the arms of strangers, even for a moment, please contact us today to get started with your Kids Protection Plan.
Each Kids Protection Plan includes:
- Legal documents naming short-term guardians who can be there immediately for your children so they’ll never be taken into the arms of strangers, not even for a minute.
- Letters to your short-term guardians so the people you’ve named will know exactly what to do if called upon.
- Instructions to everyone who takes care of your kids as to what to do if you are in an accident … so they know exactly who to call.
- Legal documents naming long-term guardians who you trust to raise your children just as you would want.
- Letters to your long-term guardians letting them know what to do if called upon.
- Instructions and guidelines for your long-term guardians on how you want your kids to be raised … with your values, insights, and stories.
- Medical Powers of Attorney for your minor children so the next time they travel without you, or you travel without them, you know they’ll get the medical care they need.
- A custom, personalized I.D. card for your wallet stating you have minor children at home and indicating exactly who should be contacted if you are ever in an accident.

More questions about Kids Protection Planning?
Here are some common questions and answers …
FAQ #1: Do I need to fill out another set of documents for my spouse?
Yes, if you used the resource at the Kids Protection Plan website to generate the first document, then both parents need to have their own set of documents. You cannot both sign on the same legal document. To create another set for your spouse, just go to the same site and do the whole process again with your spouse’s information instead of yours.
You should name the same guardians in the same order so there is no question about what should happen if both of you are in an accident.
If you do not agree who should be guardians, please schedule an appointment with me to help you work through the issues.
If you are not on good terms with your child’s other parent, you can just prepare your own legal documents.
FAQ #2: Do I need to name my spouse/baby-daddy/baby-mama as my first choice for a guardian?
No, your child’s other biological parent would automatically be granted guardianship if you were in an accident. Just name the people you would want to act as guardian if both you and your child’s other parent were in an accident.
FAQ#3: There was no place for me to put my kids’ names. Did I miss something?
The legal documents you create at the website are long-term guardian nominations and don’t require you to name your children. The legal document covers all of your children.
When you use the Kids Protection Planning Kit to name guardians for the short-term, give instructions to your guardians, and to your caregivers, there is space for you to specifically name your children and provide medical information about them to your caregivers. Each child is unique, and so, for that set of documents, we want to include all the relevant information.
FAQ#4: How do I name short-term/temporary guardians?
In our comprehensive Kids Protection Planning Kit, you will find everything you need to name guardians for the short-term, give instructions to your long-term and short-term guardians, give instructions to your caregiver, and document how you would want your children raised if anything happens to you. Plus, included with your comprehensive plan is a custom ID card for you to carry in your wallet and medical powers of attorney to give to your friends and family who may stay with your children when you go out of town (or if your children go out of town with them).
You can work with me, a Personal Family Lawyer in your neighborhood. I have special training on how to put in place legal plans that meet the needs of parents.
FAQ#5: How do I make sure specific people would never be able to take guardianship of my children?
In our comprehensive Kids Protection Planning Kit, you will also find the documentation you need to confidentially exclude someone you would never want from serving as guardian of your children.
FAQ#6: If I change my mind about who I want as guardian, can I create a new legal document?
Absolutely! In that case, just go back to the website, create a new document, tear up the one you already printed out and sign the new document. Presto, Chango … No Problem!
We do strongly recommend that you have all legal documents reviewed by our office. We have expertise in planning for the legal needs of children and their parents. If you did not order the kit directly, we will provide the tools you need at our office.
FAQ#7: You are not in my neighborhood; can I just work with any kind of a lawyer?
Well, clearly we do strongly recommend that you work with a Personal Family Lawyer to guide you to the best legal and financial decisions for your family throughout your lifetime!
Personal Family Lawyers have specific training that allows us to understand and meet the specialized planning needs of parents, such as Kids Protection Planning, passing on more than just your money, and helping you to make smart choices about issues that affect parents such as saving and paying for college, life insurance, and caring for children while also meeting the needs of your elderly parents. Personal Family Lawyers are committed to providing affordable access to your own lawyer for life.
Not every lawyer can be a Personal Family Lawyer and those that are accepted into the program go through a rigorous vetting process to ensure they meet the high standards for the kind of service and relationship you expect Personal Family Lawyers to provide.
Personal Family Lawyers commit to flat fee billing, so there are no surprises about what working with your lawyer will cost you. Personal Family Lawyers commit to having a team in place to ensure that your assets are owned properly and you get the support you need on an ongoing basis and to ensure your legal plans continue to work by reviewing your plan at least every three years. Your Personal Family Lawyer also commits to having a membership program in place that you can join for affordable, accessible and personal ongoing legal service without paying high hourly fees. And, most importantly, your Personal Family Lawyer knows how to make sure your kids would always be taken care of the way you want, by people you want and helping you to pass on more than just your money, but also your most valuable whole Family Wealth.
So, if my office is too far away from you (we are just off I-40, so, nothing is that far away!) please look for a lawyer who will never bill you hourly, assure you that they will be responsive and have a team in place in case something happens to him or her, and will ensure your assets are owned properly and your estate plan is kept up to date over time. If you find someone who fits the bill, you can tell him or her about the comprehensive Kids Protection Plan and ask for their help with it.
But, really, it will be worth the trip to start building the relationship with our office that will serve you for life …
